FIFA: Al Bayt Stadium where the opening match to be held
Following the opening ceremony, Qatar and Ecuador will play their first match at this stadium.

KATHMANDU: The World Cup in Qatar this year is the most expensive in history.
According to Qatar, the World Cup will be as spectacular as anyone can imagine. Qatar has spent 6.5 billion dollars on new stadiums alone. The majority of the teams are prepared, and the preparations are nearly finished. Already, groups have formed.
The World Cup kicked off on Sunday evening (today) at Qatar’s Al Bayt Stadium. Following the opening ceremony, Qatar and Ecuador will play their first match at this stadium.
The remaining matches will begin on Monday in other stadiums. After the inauguration ceremony, this stadium will host six group stage matches, one last 16 match, one quarter final match, and one semi final match. This stadium will also host group stage matches between the Netherlands and Qatar, Germany and Spain, England and America, and Costa Rica and Germany.
The magnificent tent structure of the stadium, inspired by Qatar’s nomadic people’s bayt al sha’ar, envelops an ultra-modern football stadium. The tents are traditionally distinguished by black and white stripes. This is reflected in the arena’s distinct exterior, as well as the vibrant sadu patterns that greet visitors upon entering.
Al Bayt Stadium’s development prioritized sustainability, and the upper tier was designed to be removed after the tournament, allowing for seat recommissioning.
This stadium, built in the shape of a tent, can seat 60,000 people. This stadium is scheduled to open in 2020.
