Qatar hoping to get off to a strong start at home

In the opening match of the World Cup football, hosts Qatar and Ecuador are facing each other on Sunday night.

The match will begin at 9:45 p.m. at Al Bait Stadium after the formal opening in the evening.

Qatar and Ecuador, along with Senegal and the Netherlands, are in Group A. Despite the fact that Qatar and Ecuador are considered relatively weak teams, Qatar has the ability to perform well at home. Senegal has won the Africa Cup of Nations. The Netherlands advanced to the World Cup final in 2010. Despite reaching the finals, the Netherlands did not win the title.

Qatar will compete in the World Cup for the first time. Ecuador also returned to the World Cup after an eight-year absence. Qatar is in high spirits at home after winning four friendly matches in preparation for the World Cup.

Ecuador had previously taken part in 2002, 2006, and 2014.
