KATHMANDU: Voting for members of the House of Representatives and the State Assembly for the next five years has begun. Voting for 275 members of the House of Representatives and 550 members of the State Assembly has already begun.

Voting will take place in all 77 districts of the country in single phase until 5 p.m.

The Election Commission (EC) reports that 1 crore 79 lakh 88 thousand 570 voters have the right to vote in the election. For the election, 22,227 polling stations in 10,892 polling stations have been established. For easy voting, arrangements have been made to prioritize senior citizens, people with disabilities, the disabled, and pregnant women.

This is the country’s second election for the House of Representatives and the State Assembly since joining the Federal Democratic Republic. Elections for the House of Representatives and the State Assembly were held earlier in 2074.

The commission is preparing to collect the ballot boxes in the respective areas as soon as the voting is completed and begin counting the votes. The election system in which the House of Representatives is elected first will be counted in the first phase. The direct counting of votes in the state assembly will then begin.

After the direct counting of votes in the House of Representatives and the State Assembly is completed, the proportional votes in the House of Representatives, followed by the proportional votes in the State Assembly’s first and second chambers, will be counted. A plan has been devised to complete the direct counting of votes in three days.
