Italian referee Daniele Orsato to officiate the opening match

KATHMANDU: Italy’s Daniele Orsato has been selected as the referee for the Opening Match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 between Qatar and Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium on Sunday, Nov 20.

FIFA has announced that Italian referee Orsato has been named to the opening match of the Qatar World Cup.

He is one of Europe’s most experienced referees, having officiated the game since 2010 and served as a video assistant referee during the 2018 World Cup.

Orsato, 46, is a seasoned referee in European football.
