KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has stated that the counting of votes for the general elections (House of Representatives and State Assembly) scheduled for Nov 20 will take 3 to 5 days. According to the Commission, voting can be completed by Nov 25, and preparations are being made to submit the report to the President by Dec 6.

After voting concludes in the evening of Nov 20, the ballot box will be transported to the office of the relevant election officer with the assistance of security personnel. After all of the ballot boxes will arrived, an all-party meeting will be held.

The votes will be counted in accordance with the rules outlined in the counting guidelines, with representatives from the Dalits and the candidates present. The votes will be counted at the same office where the candidates registered their candidacies. Election observers will be stationed to monitor the vote-counting process.

Both the direct and proportional systems will be counted with the vote counting as long as there is enough staff. If there is insufficient staff or space, the direct vote will be counted first, followed by the proportional system.

The commission has made arrangements to count the votes in accordance with the requirement by forming more people and teams.
