KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has planned to make public the result of first-past-the-post (FPTP) election to the House of Representatives and State Assembly within three days.

CEC Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said at a news conference on Thursday to share information about election preparations, “The vote count begins as soon as all ballot boxes are collected. The EC intends to complete the vote count for the FPTP election in three days and the proportional election in eight days.”

He further informed that EC was for submitting the report of election results to the President within Dec 8. “The EC is committed to it once it receives cooperation and commitment from all parties,” Thapaliya said. Each polling station will have three levels of security.

An effective security arrangement is in place, with Nepal Army personnel arriving at the incident site within 30 minutes in the event of an emergency. He ruled out the possibility of booth capture and stated that no one can vote through his or her representative.

Within two days, voting centers would be set up across the country. In Nepal, over 17.9 million people have registered to vote in this election. Anyone who has reached the age of 18 by November 19th will be eligible to vote.

The EC has overseen the operation of 10,892 polling stations and 22,227 voting centers. Similarly, there are 141 temporary polling places where approximately 450 thousand voters can vote.
