KATHMANDU: Binod Chaudhary, Nepal’s only dollar billionaire, did not want to run for proportional MP this time. He previously served as a proportional member of parliament for the CPN-UML, and this year he is running for Nawalparasi-1 on the Nepali Congress ticket.

Chaudhary, 67, is running for election in his constituency after leading the Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Confederation of Industries. In this race, he is not driving his ‘favorite’ Range Rover. Chaudhary, who is always dressed in suits and boots, is making his way to voters’ homes on foot, in a three-wheeled auto, and on the back of an activist’s motorcycle. They also drive tractors and visit farmers’ fields.

This area also includes Chaudhary’s Udyog Village and Shashwat Dham. According to Forbes magazine, which publishes the list of the world’s billionaires, Chaudhary, who is the chairman of Chaudhary Group and CG Corp Global, has a fortune of 1.5 billion dollars (1 trillion 98 billion rupees).

Chaudhary’s business is represented by 160 companies and 123 brands. The Chaudhary Group operates in 27 countries across five continents. Chowdhury’s Wai Wai brand accounts for 2.6 percent of the global noodle market.

Choudhary, who has made investments in the industries of industry, trade, tourism, education, entertainment, finance, communication, and construction, also built Shashwat Dham in Nawalparasi. He’s also the author of the books Autobiography, Encounter with Politics, and Eye of an Entrepreneur.

After 2046, Chaudhary, who had close relations with Rani Aishwarya, Prince Dhirendra Shah, and Surya Bahadur Thapa during the Panchayat period, became close to the CPN (UML). He did, however, join Congress before the 2074 House of Representatives elections. In addition, in the fourteenth Congress of the Congress, he was elected a proportional member of parliament in the Madhesi quota and a central member from the Madhesi quota.

According to the results of the local level elections held in May, Choudhary will face a tough competition in Nawalparasi-1 from People’s Progressive Party chairperson Hridayesh Tripathi.

In that election, UML received 26 thousand 779 votes in this district. Tripathi’s People’s Progressive Party received 4,681 votes, while the JSP received 3,539 votes.

Similarly, the Congress received 30 thousand 342 votes, the Maoist Center received 5 thousand 347 votes, the United Samajwadi Party received 1 thousand 141 votes, and the Rastriya Jana Morcha received 260 votes. The ruling coalition has 37 thousand 72 votes in Nawalparasi-1, according to this. This figure appears to be favorable to Chaudhary.
