KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded the Election Commission to take action against the UML for openly violating the election code of conduct.

Addressing a press conference at the party office Sanepa on Monday,  NC spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat demanded action against the UML for violating the code of conduct by openly inciting and abusing the funds of non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

He stated that the commission, which saw the alliance’s minor flaws, could not see the work against the code of conduct of the UML.

According to Mahat, the NC is adhering to the code of conduct with restraint. He insisted that the ruling coalition would win the upcoming House of Representatives and State Assembly elections and form the government under Congress’ leadership.

He stated that in the current election, the NC won 91 seats out of 165, with the remaining 74 seats contested by other alliance parties.

Mahat said that it is natural that Sher Bahadur Deuba of the NC Party will be the Prime Minister following the election, whereas others believe that the Prime Minister’s claim is simply propaganda.

Spokesperson Mahat also urged people to vote in the tree sign without hesitation in all areas, citing the importance of proportional voting in elections for representatives and the state legislature.
