EC briefs diplomatic mission officials on election preparations

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) briefed chiefs and representatives of diplomatic missions in Kathmandu today on the preparations for the Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) and State Assembly (SA) elections in 2022.

On the occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya informed them of the plans and preparations in place to hold the twin elections on November 20 in a free, fair, impartial, and transparent manner.

The Chief Election Commissioner praised the international community for its support and cooperation in ensuring the success of the elections.

Chiefs and representatives from over 20 diplomatic missions in Kathmandu, as well as representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the event, which was also attended by Election Commissioners and senior officials from the EC.

Kamal Bhattarai, EC under-secretary and head of the Planning, Monitoring, and Foreign Relations section, gave presentations on various aspects of the elections.
