Shakya, who became the first woman Chief Minister of the Republic of Nepal (of Bagmati State), was given the opportunity to run the government as Chief Minister for about two and a half months.
Astalaxmi Shakya has been active in the communist movement since 2027.
From the 10th Congress Convention, she has also become the vice chairperson of CPN-UML. She has decided not to run for the upcoming House of Representatives and State Assembly elections. However, she said that she will remain politically active in politics.
