After England won the toss and chose to field in Melbourne, Pakistan batted and scored 137 runs in 20 overs, losing 8 wickets.
Shan Masood scored the most runs for Pakistan, with 38. Babar Azam returned to the pavilion with 32 runs and Mohammad Rizwan with 15 runs. Sam Curran bowled Rizwan out after he hit one six off 14 balls.
Adil Rashid caught Captain Azam out after he hit two fours in 28 balls. Shadab Khan contributed 20 runs. Ben Stokes caught Mohammad Haris off Rashid in the eighth ball. Iftikhar Ahmed scored no runs. Haris Rauf scored one run and Shaheen Afridi five runs.
Lower-order batsmen struggled against England’s bowlers. Pakistan lost three wickets in a row in the 17th, 18th, and 19th overs. Sam Curran of England took three wickets. Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan each took two wickets. Wayne Stokes had one wicket remaining.
England will bat back in no time.
England defeated India in the semi-finals by a margin of 10 wickets, confirming the meeting with Pakistan. Pakistan came within 7 wickets of winning the World Cup after defeating New Zealand.
The winning team in Sunday’s match will win the T-20 World Cup for the second time. Previously, Pakistan won the T20 World Cup in 2009, followed by England in 2010.
