BIRATNAGAR: The candidates started ignoring the administration’s and the Election Commission’s orders. Since the last two days, there has been a flagrant violation of the election code of conduct, with three programs being held at the same location at the same time.

Three events took place simultaneously in Biratnagar Metropolitan City’s Ward No. 17 Rani Chowk. The program was organized by three candidates at the same location near the Rani checkpoint. The Democratic Left Alliance held a party office opening program at the same location on Friday afternoon, around 2 p.m., which has been informed that there is an agenda from before.

A police officer present informed them that their program’s schedule was kept half an hour apart from 2 p.m. After being told to start at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, no candidate arrived until 3 o’clock. The locals participating in the program began hooting after independent candidate Yogendra Mandal arrived around 3 p.m. While supporters of Mandal chanted, chants in support of the alliance’s candidate began to play on the north side of the same location, where the ruling coalition’s election liaison office is located. The congregation’s program was hampered by the songs played there and favoritism slogans.

Mandal, who ran as an independent candidate, stated that the main reason he ran for office was to improve citizens’ education, health, and standard of living. He criticized the fact that area number 5 has not been developed for years due to the greed of one person, and that the residents of this area do not have access to safe drinking water. ‘Politics is over, now we need to develop,’ he said, adding that citizens should be able to bring a wave of development rather than sitting as a party. When he said that people are being cheated in everything these days, he pulled out an electricity bill from his pocket and said, ‘Look, this electricity bill has also been arbitrary; the citizens have been cheated after purchasing the unit.’ He stated that he has employed 2,000 people in his constituency and that, despite working in the fields of health and education, there is still much work to be done.

Amrit Aryal, the Nepali Congress candidate for Constituency No. 5, arrived shortly after Mandal began announcing his election agenda. Due to the double mic, both programs suffered. The event organizers appeared to be unable to accept one another’s existence. The congregation stopped talking and went to the house when the power coalition began to speak. Aryal, who was inaugurating the alliance’s election liaison office, urged them to Vote for him and help him win despite the fact that he couldn’t speak much due to his illness. Before the start of these two programs, another independent candidate Salim Ansari, who had stopped his car at the same place and was waiting for the program, had started seeking for votes in his favor before the coalition program could finish. When his supporters started raising slogans in favor of Ansari, Ansari said, ‘Now my turn has come.

After his program began, the two candidates who had arrived went their separate ways, while the party leader and worker listened to Ansari’s speech. This country, which was seen about half an hour ago, appeared to be in a state of panic among the locals. The police appeared to be under stress as they believed that holding similar programs in the same location would cause tension. With the possibility of an incident in mind, the police were heavily mobilized.

In this regard, Police Inspector Mahendra Darnal of the District Police Office Rani stated that he was unaware that the program had been organized without prior approval. He stated that he was unaware of three programs taking place at the same time. He stated that organizing a program without approval is difficult because approval is required before the program can be carried out.
