SURKHET: In Karnali, 17 temporary polling stations have been designated for temporary voters who will vote in the proportional assembly election system for House of Representatives members.

Employees and security personnel whose names appear on the final provisional voter list but do not appear at the polling station, persons in old age homes, prisoners and prisoners in prisons, except those sentenced for electoral offenses, for the voting process to be held in accordance with the proportional election system for the election of members of the House of Representatives and members of the State Assembly to be held on Nov 20. The Commission has approved 17 temporary polling stations in 10 Karnali districts so that the temporary voters who have been collected to vote for the House of Representatives’ proportional election system can vote.

Two polling stations have been designated in Rukum West, Barah Takura and Rukum Prison. Similarly, in Salyan, polling stations have been designated at 3 locations, open square ‘A’ in front of the district Prison Salyan, open square ‘B’ in front of the prison office Salyan and district prison. Temporary polling stations have been designated at Sri Mahakali Model Secondary School of Mugu, Srinagar, Prison Office of Calikot, District Prison Office of Humla and Jajarkot Prison Office. 17 temporary polling stations have been designated in Karnali in Karnali at 2 locations, Prison Office and District Coordination Committee Office in Dolpa, District Prison Office in Jumla and Salt Training Company Limited office, Janata Basic School and Prison Office in Dailekh, Prison Office in Surkhet and District Coordination Committee Office in Surkhet.

For the first time since Nepal’s constitution was issued in 2072, the system of voting by temporary voters has been implemented. The Commission has made arrangements for employees and security personnel assigned to polling places to vote from the polling place where they are stationed. There is a legal requirement that the name be included in the final voter list in order to be a temporary voter.
