Portugal’s squad announced under the captaincy of Ronaldo

KATHMANDU: Portugal’s World Cup football team has been announced.

Portugal’s 26-man World Cup squad has been announced by head coach Fernando Santos.

Portugal’s best World Cup result was a third-place finish at the 1966 World Cup.

Diogo Jota, who plays for Liverpool in Portugal’s World Cup team, was unable to make the squad due to injury. Apart from Jota, some well-known Portuguese players were unable to make the squad. Among them are Wolves’ Joao Moutinho and Renato Sanches (PSG).

Portugal has a significant advantage in the FIFA World Cup 2022 as they have the top-scorer in football history, Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also the country’s top-scorer. Portugal’s first match in Group H at the Qatar World Cup will be against Ghana on Nov 24.
