KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an injunction prohibiting the ‘No Not Again’ campaign from being halted.

Previously, the SC issued a short-term injunction not to halt this campaign.

The SC issued an interim order on Thursday in this case to continue the said order.

This order was issued by a joint bench of judges Sapana Pradhan Malla and Sushma Lata Mathema.

Earlier on Nov 6, the bench of Judges Hari Prasad Phuyal had given a short-term interim order.

The Election Commission (EC) had sent a letter to the police requesting that the Facebook pages and groups of this campaign, which is being run on social media Facebook, be closed down. The campaign is calling for old and tested leaders to be barred from running in the upcoming elections.

Anil Acharya, an advocate, petitioned the SC, claiming that the EC’s action violated the right to free expression and opinion. On Thursday, the court issued this order while hearing the case.
