KL Rahul, the opener, was out for 5 runs. For 27 runs, captain Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion. Rahul hit four fours in 28 balls. Surya Kumar Yadav was dismissed for 14 runs after hitting one six and one four off ten balls.

Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, and Chris Jordan each took one wicket.

India made the semis after winning four of their five Super 12 matches to top their group.

England ended second in their World Cup Super 12 group and needed a nervy win over Sri Lanka to make the final four.

India, who will play in the final for the first time in eight years, hopes to win the T20 World Cup for the first time in 15 years.

India won the championship in 2007. India was defeated by Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the 2014 final.

England is attempting to win the title for the second time. In the 2016 final, they were defeated by West Indies, who came close to winning the title.
