Ban on sale of alcohol in Nawalparasi East from today

KATHMANDU: A total ban on the sale and distribution of alcohol has been imposed in Nawalparasi East, ahead of the Nov 20 elections for the House of Representatives and the State Assembly.

According to a statement issued by the district administration office, the sale, transportation, and consumption of alcohol has been prohibited during the election period due to the possibility of unpleasant incidents in society and anti-election activities caused by the sale and consumption of alcohol.

Suman Ghimire stated, “A public notice has been issued not to sell or consume alcohol openly in the district, “As political party activists drink alcohol and riot during the election period, the sale, distribution, and consumption of alcohol has been prohibited until the election period.”

Chief of District Police Office Bhuwaneshwor Tiwari stated that instructions have been issued to security units throughout the district to implement the decision to impose a complete ban on the sale, transportation, and consumption of alcohol in the run-up to the elections.
