Can I vote if I lose my voter ID card?

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has decided that voters whose names appear on the final voter list for the House of Representatives and State Assembly member elections on Nov 20 will be allowed to vote using the Commission’s voter ID card as well as other official documents that reveal their identity.

The commission has decided to direct the relevant election officer to make arrangements for voters to vote using proof of identity as well as a certificate of Nepali citizenship, national identity card, passport, land ownership certificate, or driver’s license.

According to Surya Prasad Aryal, the Commission’s Assistant Spokesperson, while the Commission has distributed identity cards to voters in the context of the election, arrangements have been made to allow them to vote based on the mentioned ID cards if some voters’ ID cards are lost or destroyed.
