KATHMANDU: Six people were killed in the Doti earthquake. The earthquake that struck Gaira gaun in Purbi Chauki Rural Municipality 3 of the district at 2:12 p.m. on Wednesday night destroyed eight houses and killed six people.

Padam Bohora’s wife Bhagwati Devi Bohora, his 7-year-old son Harka Bohora, and his 14-year-old daughter Sita Bohora were killed when his house collapsed during the earthquake. Prem Bohora, Tulsi Bohora, and Dhansari Bohora of the same location also died, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhola Kumar Bhatta of District Police Office Doti.

He stated that two missing people had been safely rescued.

According to the Doti district police office, the majority of the houses in Purbi Chauki Rural Municipality 3 were damaged in the 6.6 magnitude earthquake with its epicentre in the Khaptad National Park in Doti.

The earthquake injured five people. Mahabir Bohora, 45, Innari Bohora, 40, Bisnadevi Boohra, 45, Chanadevi Bohora, 46, and Dhauli Bohora, 11, are among those injured. According to the district police office, the injured are being treated. As their houses were damaged by the earthquake, the residents have spent the night sitting in the square.
