KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a temporary injunction prohibiting the charging of additional fees to spectators during the Fifa World Cup.

A single bench of Judge Prakash Man Singh Raut issued an order on Tuesday, not to implement the decision to collect an additional 500 immediately while hearing a writ filed in this regard.

On Nov 13, an interim order was sent to both parties for discussion. It has also issued a show cause order to Media Hub Pvt Ltd, the company that has acquired the broadcast rights.

Anupam Bhattarai, Kishor Poudel, and others petitioned the Supreme Court for a stay of the decision to charge additional fees.

The broadcast rights for the World Cup, which begins in the mid-Nov, have been acquired by Media Hub Pvt Ltd.

Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd has granted the company the necessary broadcasting rights to broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Nepal. According to Media Hub, they have taken exclusive rights to be territory luck.

According to the company, the broadcasting rights were different before and now. That is why he claims the price is higher now than in the past.
