Voting can be done using an official document that reveals the voter’s identity

The commission has decided to direct the responsible election officer to make voting arrangements by verifying the details of the final voter list using the identity card as well as the certificate of Nepali citizenship, national identity card, passport, land ownership certificate, or driver's license.

KATHMANDU: Election Commission (EC) has decided that voters whose names appear on the final voter list for the House of Representatives and State Assembly member elections on Nov 20 will be allowed to vote using the Commission’s voter ID card as well as other official documents that reveal their identity.

The commission has decided to direct the responsible election officer to make voting arrangements by verifying the details of the final voter list using the identity card as well as the certificate of Nepali citizenship, national identity card, passport, land ownership certificate, or driver’s license.

According to Surya Prasad Aryal, the Commission’s Assistant Spokesperson, while the Commission has distributed identity cards to voters in the context of the election, arrangements have been made to allow them to vote on the basis of the mentioned identity cards if some voters’ identity cards are lost or destroyed.
