KATHMANDU: Dhiraj Pratap Singh, Inspector General of Nepal Police, has directed security officials to be prepared to face any challenge that may arise during the election.

On Monday evening, IGP Singh addressed virtually the Chiefs of State Police, State Training Centre, District Police, and Battalion.

He stated that security arrangements must not be jeopardized, noting that the “environment prepared so far for election security was positive.”

The Nepal Police election strategy, as well as the related circular, must be delivered to each booth commander, he reminded. Singh also emphasized that the election is a major national political event, and that every challenge must be met effectively.

He believes that keeping an eye out for any unruly elements attempting to disrupt the election atmosphere is critical. The behavior of security personnel mobilized at the booth reflects the commander’s professionalism.

Singh assured that the commander’s role would be recognized.

It is time to carry out the State’s responsibility in an effective and honest manner, so that elections to the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies can be held in a free, fair, and peaceful environment.

Dibesh Lohani, Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police and coordinator of the central election cell, directed his subordinates not to leave any stone unturned in ensuring a peaceful election.
