KATHMANDU: As the representative and state assembly elections approach, the number of’screenprint’ traders in Baghbazar has increased.

As the election date of Mangsir 4 (Nov 20) approaches, screenprint traders are busy producing campaign materials such as party flags, election symbols, hats, and t-shirts.

They used to be free, but now they work for 12 hours a day, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

According to a local businessman, there are usually 3-4 workers in the shops right now, but by the first week of Kartik (Oct/Nov), 7-8 more workers are required.

As such campaign materials are in high demand during the election, businessmen prepare and store them.

According to local traders, such items sell for between 40 and 50 lakhs in a single election.
