Dr. Toshima’s candidacy approved by SC

KATHMANDU: The National Independent Party’s Dr. Toshima Karki’s candidacy will be approved.

Her candidacy was upheld by the Supreme Court (SC). She was nominated to the House of Representatives from Lalitpur Constituency No. 3.

After the Election Commission received a complaint about her candidacy, the commission denied her candidacy. After her candidacy was rejected, she petitioned the Supreme Court to have her candidacy reinstated.

Her candidacy was approved by a Supreme Court bench led by Dr. Kumar Chudal.

The Election Commission had decided that she would be disqualified from running for office because she was a member of the Medical Council and received the meeting allowance, deeming it a position of advantage.
