KATHMANDU: Chhath, a Hindu festival celebrated with joy, particularly in the Terai region, has also begun in Kathmandu Valley. Chhath festival is observed by offering arghya to the sunset on Kartik Shukla Shasthi evening.
This festival is celebrated with grandeur in major Kathmandu Valley locations such as Gaurighat, Guheshwori, Gahana Pokhari, Kamal Pokhari, and others, particularly in the Mithila region.
Fasting is done in the evening on the main day of the festival, on the Shashti date of Kartik Shukla, by going to the holy reservoir and offering argha to the sunset.
Similarly, on Saptami morning, this festival is concluded by offering argha to the rising sun.
Kamalpokhari is decorated like a bride now that the final preparations for Chhath have been completed.
