KATHMANDU: The police have been given two more days to investigate cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who is being held on rape charges.

Lamichhane was brought to the district court in Kathmandu for an extension on Sunday.

Sandeep, who was arrested on Ashoj 20 (Oct 6) on charge of raping a minor, had his time extended four times.

Sandeep will also be held in custody until Tihar. As the court to remain closed tomorrow, he will almost certainly remain in custody until Tihar. A case will be filed against Sandeep in court soon after Tihar.

For the first time on Ashoj 24 (Oct 10), he was brought to the court for an extension. A 7-day deadline was set for the first time. It was shown a second time on Ashoj 27 (Oct 13).

On Ashoj 27 (Oct 13), the court granted the Nepal Police permission to investigate by extending the deadline by 5 days.

The court then granted an extension of four days last Wednesday. The court issued another two-day deadline on Sunday.

Sandeep was arrested on Ashoj 20 (Oct 6) after being accused of raping a 17-year-old minor on Bhadra 5 (August 21).

Sandeep was arrested at the airport after arriving in Nepal on Ashoj 20 (Oct 6) after a 17-year-old girl accused him of rape.

The girl filed a complaint at Gaushala Police Circle on Bhadra 21 (Sept 6) alleging that Sandeep raped her in a hotel room in Gaushala, Kathmandu. Sandeep then went to play in the Caribbean League.

Sandeep appeared in court on Ashoj 24 (Oct 10) and claimed his innocence.
