Kathmandu-8: 40 candidates in competition

There are 19 candidates vying for the position of member of the House of Representatives for Region No. 8, 16 from the party and three from the independent party.

KATHMANDU: In Kathmandu Region No. 8, 40 candidates have entered the race for the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections, which will be held on Nov 20.

Thakur Prasad Adhikari, the Kathmandu District Election Officer, stated that there were 31 and nine independent candidates from various political parties running for two State Assembly and one House of Representatives seats in Kathmandu Constituency No.8.

According to the official, the party has eight candidates in Constituency No. 8 State Assembly 1 and one independent candidate. In State Assembly 2, there are 12 nominations: seven from parties and five from independents.

There are 19 candidates vying for the position of member of the House of Representatives for Region No. 8, 16 from the party and three from the independent party.

According to the official, the region has 53,106 voters, with 30,049 voters in State 1 and 23,057 voters in State 2. Within Constituency No. 8, there are 61 polling stations, for a total of 23 polling stations.

This area includes six wards of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and two wards of Nagarjuna Municipality. This area includes Wards 13, 15, 19, 20, 23, 24, and 25 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, as well as Wards 4 and 5 of Nagarjuna Municipality.
