KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank has begun distributing Asharfi (gold coins) to the public for worship on Dhanteras (Dhanvantari Jayanti), the day before Tihar. On Thursday, people are lining up in front of Rashtra Bank to purchase gold and silver coins.

The general public can purchase 2.5 grams, 5 grams, and 10 grams of gold Ashrafi from Taksar branch. Their prices are set daily based on market fluctuations. Rastra Bank has increased the market price of gold and silver by 200 to 300 rupees.

Gold and silver coins purchased at the Taksar branch cannot be sold at the same location. That is, Nepal Rastra Bank sells gold and silver coins to the general public rather than purchasing them.
