Children to be given vitamin ‘A’ & deworming medication
The Family Welfare Division under the Department of Health Services is going to distribute vitamin A and deworming medicine on Oct 19 and 20.
KATHMANDU: Children will be given vitamin ‘A’ and anti-worm medication today and tomorrow.
Today, the government has a program in place to provide vitamin ‘A’ and deworming medication to children under the age of five.
The Family Welfare Division under the Department of Health Services is going to distribute vitamin A and deworming medicine on Oct 19 and 20.
The department has asked parents to take their children to their nearest vaccination center and give them vitamin ‘A’ and deworming medicine. Those who did not eat today will be fed tomorrow, Oct 20.
During the two-day campaign, approximately 2.7 million children aged 6 to 59 months will be given vitamin A capsules. Similarly, the department reports that 23 lakh 93 thousand more children aged one to five years will be given deforming medication.
Since 2050, the government has been running the National Vitamin A Program to reduce the risk of health complications and malnutrition in children. Deworming medicine was first introduced in 2056.
Dr. Bivek Kumar Lal, the division’s director, stated that this program will mobilize 52 thousand of health volunteers from across the country.
