‘Fifth ETA Everest Global Nepali Film Award’ completed with grandeur
The program was completed in the presence of Bhuwwan KC, eminent filmmaker Nir Shah, Rabindra Khadka, Chairperson of the Nepal Film Artists Association, senior actors Shiva Shrestha, Sunil Thapa, senior actress Sharmila Malla, senior folk singer Ram Prashad Khanal, and dozens of new and old actors.
KATHMANDU: The prestigious Nepali Diaspora award, which began in 2016 with the slogan ‘Own Name, Own Pride, Own Identity, Nepali Cinema Village to Globe,’ has been held in Denver, Colorado, USA. Nepali films released in 2022 were recognized in the award ceremony.
The program was completed in the presence of Bhuwwan KC, eminent filmmaker Nir Shah, Rabindra Khadka, Chairperson of the Nepal Film Artists Association, senior actors Shiva Shrestha, Sunil Thapa, senior actress Sharmila Malla, senior folk singer Ram Prashad Khanal, and dozens of new and old actors.
The best film award was given to the film ‘Ae Mero Hajur 3’. Suhana Thapa received the best debut actress award for the same film, and director Jharna Thapa received the best director award. Similarly, the film Maruni received the Jury Award.
Ankit Sharma was named the best debut actor for his work in ‘Rato Tika Nidhar Ma,’ and Surakshya Panta was named the best actress of the year for her work in ‘Aama.’ Deepak Raj Giri was declared the best actor for ‘Cha Maya Chhapakkai’. Actress Namrata Shrestha was declared Star of the Year. Shakti Shrestha won the Diaspora Award for Best Debut Actor, while Sudhanshu Joshi won the Best Actor Award for ‘Hello Zindagi’.
Shambhujit Baskota, a renowned music composer, received the Sangeet Ratna Fifth ETA Everest Global Nepali Film Lifetime Achievement Award.’ Sarita Lamichhane received the Ramkeshar Bogati Memorial Award, and dramatist Hari Bahadur Thapa received the Gehendra Dhimal Memorial Award.
At the ceremony, Prakash Shrestha and Hiranya Bhojpure received the Abhiyanshree Samman. Siddharth Bishwa and Lakshu Sharma received the Bhutanese Art Award. Sunil Pathak, Krishna Sunar, Miss Nepal North America Pratyusha Bohora, and runner-up Anya Thapa also received special recognition.
Nawaraj Shrestha, Chairperson of Global Nepali Film Awards LLC, spoke about the Global Nepali Film Awards and thanked all of the filmmakers, artists, sponsors, co-sponsors, supporting organizations, and individuals for the film festival and award program’s successful completion.
Krishna Malla, Chairperson of the Nepal Film Society, stated that in the coming years, they will continue to hold great awards programs and elevate the dignity of the awards. The award ceremony was co-organized by Global Nepali Film Awards LLC, Nepal Film Society, and Golden State Movie Maker LLC, as well as 8848 Media House LLC.
