Govt is positive to reduce the time it takes to complete police pension: Home Minister Khand

He stated that Nepal Police has been performing its role since its establishment in order to fulfill the state's first duty of protecting citizens' lives.

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has stated that the government is eager to shorten the time it takes to obtain a police pension.

He stated that the government is prepared to implement the necessary reforms to keep police morale high and motivate them to devote themselves to security. He said this at a program commemorating Police Day on Monday.

He stated that Nepal Police has been performing its role since its establishment in order to fulfill the state’s first duty of protecting citizens’ lives. He praised the police for protecting the public despite limited resources, and he praised their role in rescue and relief during earthquakes, COVID epidemics, and natural disasters.

“Despite limited resources, the police quickly reach the locations designated by the government, and when citizens are in trouble, this has helped to protect the people,” he said. Home Minister Khand stated that a new dimension has been added to criminal activities, and the use of technology in criminal activities has added security challenges and that the ministry is ready to strengthen police capacity.

“The government is working to improve the capacity and morale of the police, to make the lives of police families easier,” he said, adding that “important decisions in moral development have been made to increase the morale of police jawans and junior officers.”
