KATHMANDU: Stone laying ceremony of the new palliative care centre of Hospice Nepal in Dhapakhel is observed on 11th Oct. 2022.

Hospice Nepal is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 to develop palliative care in Nepal. It is registered with the Government of Nepal (Kathmandu CDO Office: Regd.no 1064/057/058; Social Welfare Council Regd.no: 18404). It offers a free in-patient service in an eight-bed unit at Lagankhel, community service in Kathmandu Valley, and rural community-based service in Makwanpur District.

Hospice Nepal envisions a model palliative care center with 20 bedded units and training facilities in order to spread palliative care throughout the country. Five ropanies of land in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur 24 have been purchased. International and national fundraising efforts are currently underway.

On October 11, 2022, the stone-laying ceremony for the new palliative care center at Dhapakhel, Lalitpur 24 was successfully completed thanks to the hard work of everyone involved in Project Hospice Nepal.

The total cost of the building’s construction is around Rs 15 crore, of which Rs 40 crore has been raised from various donors. Dr. Rajesh Gangol, Dr. Pradeep Vaidya, and Om Rajbhandari founded this center. By providing excellent service, this new premise will undoubtedly change the dynamics of palliative care.

Hospice Nepal’s board of directors is determined to complete the first phase of building construction in two years and the entire project in four years. They also invited all donors to contribute to the establishment of this emergency service center.
