Declarant is not a minor: Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: Sandeep Lamichhane claims the girl accusing him of rape is not a minor.
Lamichhane, who was arrested on Oct 6, was brought before Kathmandu District Court on Monday (today) for an extension.
The judge understood Lamichhane’s side of the story.
According to Sandeep’s lawyer, Saroj Krishna Ghimire, Lamichhane stated that he met at the request of the complainant and stated that she was not a minor.
According to the declarant, I am 19 years old. In court, he stated that Sandeep violated her privacy and that he is seeking legal redress.
He stated that the judge advised Lamichhane to bring this up during the case hearing.
Sudha Rijal, another lawyer, claimed that the birth certificate was manipulated to make Sandeep appear to be a minor in order to trap him. Having discovered the declarant’s two birth certificates, she stated, ‘The current birth certificate says matured, she is not a minor.’ It is suspected that those who attempted to capture him mobilized him.
Sandeep is currently in police custody.
