Salyan Accident Update: Death toll reached nine
Tilak Oli, who was critically injured in a car accident in Salyan last Tuesday, died in the hospital.

KATHMANDU: Tilak Oli, who was critically injured in a car accident in Salyan last Tuesday, died in the hospital.
According to the District Police Office Salyan, his death brings the total number of people killed in the accident to nine. Oli died last night at the Teaching Hospital Kohalpur, according to Salyan Police.
In that accident, eight people in the jeep died on the spot, while Tilak was taken to Rapti State Hospital Tulsipur for treatment. Following initial treatment, he was transferred to Teaching Hospital Kohalpur for further treatment.
The accident occurred at 2 a.m. on Tuesday in Kapurkot Rural Municipality-3 Moolpani, while the jeep numbered RA 1 J 563 was traveling from Dhakeri in Banke to Kapurkot Rural Municipality-6 Jalwang in Salyan. The accident killed eight people on the spot. The victims of the accident were all residents of Kapurkot rural municipality-6 Jalwang village.
They were on their way back from a relative’s wedding in Dhakeri, Banke, when they were involved in an accident as they approached the village. Top Bahadur Oli, 45, has an 11-year-old son named Basanta Oli, 40-year-old Lalit Oli, 45-year-old Kumari Oli, and 45-year-old Dharma Oli. Top Bahadur and Dharma Sahodar are brothers, and Top Bahadur’s son is Basanta.
Kumari Top Bahadur and Dharma Sahodar are sisters-in-law, and Lalit is the son of Top Bahadur’s uncle. Another 70-year-old man, Khumlal Oli, was killed in the accident and is one of the 13-day-old siblings.
In the same accident, 22-year-old driver Jeet Bahadur Bohora and 27-year-old Suresh KC of the same village died. The car crashed about 150 meters from the road. It is assumed that the accident occurred as a result of the driver falling asleep.
