Withholding of salaries of Speaker & Deputy Speaker
According to sources, services will be withheld after Sept 17 until the court rules.
KATHMANDU: The salaries of the House Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be withheld until the court issues an order. The Parliament Secretariat has suspended all salaries and allowances received by them since Sept 17.
Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and Deputy Speaker Pushpa Bhusal’s salary allowance has been withheld, as has the amount of salary allowance received by their personalities.
On Sept 22, a writ was filed in the Supreme Court, raising concerns about the Speaker’s tenure.
According to sources, services will be withheld after Sept 17 until the court rules.
Since the term of the Parliament is up to the day before the submission of the closed list on the proportional side, it is disputed whether the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker will continue or not.
