Women’s SAFF Championship: Nepal to face India in semi-final

KATHMANDU: Nepal topped Group B to qualify for the semi-final and will meet India, who ended runners-up in Group A. The match will be held on Sept 16.

India also advanced to the semi-finals by finishing second in Group A after losing 3-0 to Bangladesh on Tuesday.

As Nepal won Group B, the two countries will meet in the semi-finals. Earlier in the group stage, Nepal defeated Bhutan 4-0 and Sri Lanka 6-0.

Similarly, India defeated Pakistan 3-0 and Maldives 9-0 in Group A. But in the last match of the group stage, India lost to Bangladesh 3-0.

The next semi-final will pit Bangladesh against Bhutan. Bangladesh went undefeated in Group A and won the group to advance to the semi-finals, while Bhutan lost to Nepal in the group stage but defeated Sri Lanka to advance to the semi-finals.

The semi-final matches will now take place next Friday. On Friday, the first semi-final will begin at 1 p.m. between Bangladesh and Bhutan, and the second semi-final will begin at 5:30 p.m. between Nepal and India.
