China’s interest in MCC, Prachanda said – ‘ not affect in international relations’

KATHMANDU: China has expressed interest in the US aid package (MCC) approved by Nepal’s parliament on February 15, 2078. (27 February 2022).

Chinese People’s Congress Chairperson Li Changsu, who is on a three-day visit to Nepal, is interested in MCC. Li met with CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and other party officials on Tuesday morning. Li was interested in MCC, according to a meeting participant.

According to the leader, Prachanda, Nepal has always maintained a one-China policy. “He was interested in Tibetan identity cards and MCC,” he told Makalu Khabar. In this regard, Chairperson Prachanda assured that no activity against China will be permitted from Nepal’s geography, while also stating that Nepal is always committed to the one-China policy.

Prachanda recalled the 12-point explanatory declaration in response to Li’s interest in MCC. “We have passed the MCC in the Parliament by declaring 12 points in an explanatory manner in the interest of Nepal,” the leader said, quoting him. “We are of the opinion that this will not affect national/international relations.”

Similarly, Li emphasized the importance of creating an environment conducive to the rapid implementation of projects such as BRI. Aside from that, there was a discussion about the two leaders’ ‘party to party’ relationship.
