KATHMANDU: KP Sharma Oli, Chairperson of the CPN-UML, and Li Zhanshu, Chairperson of the Chinese National People’s Congress Standing Committee, who is on an official visit to Nepal, met. In the meeting held a few moments ago, various matters of mutual interest were discussed.

Chairperson Li arrived in Kathmandu on Monday at Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota’s invitation. On the same day, Speaker Sapkota and Chairperson Li held a bilateral delegation-level negotiation at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor and signed a cooperation agreement.

This afternoon, Chairperson Li will meet with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in a courtesy meeting. Similarly, Chairperson Li will meet with Foreign Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka and CPN Maoist Center Chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today.

He met with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, earlier this morning. The Federal Parliament’s Secretariat reported that various issues of mutual interest were discussed during their bilateral meeting at the parliamentary delegation level in the morning at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.

Chairperson Li will meet with President Bidya Devi Bhandari tomorrow as part of his four-day official visit, which will last until September 15.

During the visit, the Chinese delegation will visit to Bhaktapur’s Durbar area to see the structures that have been rebuilt since the earthquake.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports a 67-member delegation led by Chairperson Li, which includes six high-ranking Chinese officials, security personnel, media personnel, and other staff. Chairperson Li is scheduled to return home on Thursday, September 15th, after completing his visit.
