KATHMANDU: The British College hosted the Graduation Ceremony 2022 on September 9th at The Hyatt Regency Hotel to commemorate the awarding of degrees to Leeds Beckett University (LBU) and The University of the West of England (UWE).

With a total of 415 graduates this year, the College hosted two ceremonies, with business students graduating in the morning and IT students graduating in the afternoon.

Christina Kansakar, Business Pursuit Manager for the British Council; Patricia Voaden, Head of International Partnerships; Sujan Ghimire, UWE Country Manager for Nepal; Phil Cardew, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academics; and Jayashree Raghuram, LBU Regional Head for South Asia, were among the distinguished guests in attendance.

Some of the College’s Advisors were present, including Paul Cleves, Dr Arjun Kumar Karki, Michael Rutland, Dr. (H.C.) and Chiran Thapa; two Industry Advisory Board members, Tim Gocher and Siddhant Raj Pandey – and Isabelle Onions, a member of the British Education Group’s Board of Directors. In addition, Mary Bishop, the Executive Principal, and The Earl of Sandwich, TBC’s long-standing Advisor, sent special video messages.

The ceremony was kicked off by Mahendra Kandel, Executive Director of the British College, lighting the Panas. “Whether you have traveled overseas, supported us from within Nepal, or joined us via video link – I would like to thank all of the distinguished guests who came and made the day such a great success,” he said of the ceremony.

Rajen Kandel, the College’s CEO and Founder, then gave a welcome speech and congratulated all of the graduates who celebrated their achievements this year.

Despite the pandemic, each of them completed their studies and is now receiving a degree from a British Accreditation Council-approved college.

Following that, special guests delivered motivational speeches, and representatives from the partner British universities presented the awards.

Several graduates delivered speeches, including Ruby Shah, a BBA student and winner of the Zonta International JMK Women in Business Award.

Scholarships are available. Rakshya Lama Moktan from BSc (Hons) Computing and Aayush Shrestha from BBA also received Student Excellence awards.

“Seeing award-winning students take the stage today truly shows how well our graduates have done and reflects what a great team we have here,” said Arun Joshi, Associate Dean of Academics, of the occasion.

I’d like to thank all of the staff and faculty who assisted our students in getting here and who contributed to making the day such a memorable occasion.”
