In Pics: Clashes when effigy of President’s burned
There was a clash between the police and the protestors after the students attempted to block the road during the demonstration.
KATHMANDU: A demonstration was held against President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Tri Chandra College.
Students affiliated with the Nepal Student Union demonstrated that President Bhandari has withdrawn the citizenship bill passed by a majority in both houses, undermining Parliament and the people’s representatives.
The effigy of President Bhandari was also be burned during the protest. There was a clash between the police and the protestors after the students attempted to block the road during the demonstration.
The protesters also threw stones at the police, who in turn threw stones at the protesters.
A private vehicle and the camera of Setopati Online’s photojournalist Naveen Babu Gurung also broke when a stone was thrown.
