AFC U-20 Championship: Nepal lost to Bhutan

KATHMANDU: Bhutan has triumphed over Nepal.

Nepal was defeated 2-0 by Bhutan in the first group match of the AFC U-20 Championship 2023 on Saturday in Bahrain.

Sonam Chozang’s goal in the 33rd minute of the game gave Bhutan an early lead.

Nepal scored one more goal in the second half after trailing 1-0 in the first.

Bhutan doubled its lead early in the second half. Bhutan’s lead was doubled by Karma Tashi Jamtsho.

Nepal was reduced to 10 players in the final minute of injury time. The referee showed Abhishek Waiba a straight red card and sent him off the field.

Bhutan has made a strong start to the wonderful tournament with this victory.

Nepal was defeated in the first match despite finishing third in the SAFF U20 Championship last month.
