Darchula Flood Update: 10 people still missing

KATHMANDU: The death toll due to floods and landslides in Darchula has reached 5. Ten people are still missing due to floods and landslides. All the missing people belong to Mahakali Municipality located in Khalanga.

Similarly, Nepal Police, Armed Police, Nepali Army and local residents are searching for 10 people from Lasku and Dungri of Mahakali Municipality who went missing in the flood landslide.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Hemanti Saud, 77-year-old Nandaram Bohra of Mahakali Municipality-2 Mulla and 35-year-old Manmati Karki of Mahakali-3 Dungri and 32-year-old Janaki Thagunna of Naugad Rural Municipality-1 and 15-year-old Dhanuli Thagunna of Naugad-2 died due to landslides and 68-year-old Mohanram Parki of Naugad-2.

Rambha Thagunna, Faguni Thagunna, Jay Bahadur Thagunna, Devi Singh Thagunna and Bire Thagunna of Naugad-1 were injured in the landslide.

Harka Singh Shah of Mahakali Municipality 2, Abhishek Kami and Geeta Kami of Mahakali Municipality 4 are among the others who were injured.

Assistant Saud informed that they were taken from Naugad to Dhangadhi in Khalanga Kailali in a Nepali army helicopter that came from Surkhet.

He said some of them were taken to Dhangadhi as treatment was not possible at District Hospital Darchula.
