Sandeep suspended from national cricket team

KATHMANDU: Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has suspended Sandeep Lamichhane from the national cricket team.

According to the complaint filed with the Metropolitan Police Circle Gaushala, Sandeep, who has a permanent home in Syangja Aruchaur and currently resides in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, took the girl around to various places in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur on August 21 and brought her to a hotel in Kathmandu on the same day and forcibly raped her.
After receiving a complaint that Sandeep had raped a minor girl, the police sought court permission to arrest him and conduct an investigation. According to the police, an arrest warrant was issued after the evidence alleged by the girl was discovered during the investigation. Since the girl’s health examination on August 21, the police have also investigated CCTV footage from hotels in Nagarkot and Kathmandu.
Sandeep, the national cricket team’s captain, is currently in Jamaica, West Indies, playing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) cricket.
Prior to that, on August 22, the day after the incident, the Nepali national cricket team, which included Sandeep, traveled to Kenya and played three one-day and five T20 international cricket matches with Kenya.
