India reports 5,379 new COVID-19 cases
The daily positivity rate stands at 1.67 percent and the weekly positivity rate is 2.0 percent, the ministry data showed.
NEW DELHI: India recorded 5,379 new COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,472,241, official data showed on Wednesday.
According to federal health ministry data released on Wednesday morning, with the fresh cases, India’s active caseload currently stands at 50,594.
The country also logged 27 COVID-19-related deaths during the past 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll to 528,057, the ministry said.
The daily positivity rate stands at 1.67 percent and the weekly positivity rate is 2.0 percent, the ministry data showed.
The ministry said 43,893,590 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals, including 7,094 new recoveries.
At present the Indian government is focusing on improving booster dose coverage as the uptake for the third dose has been low in the country.
