Nepal makes a winning start in SAFF Women’s Championship beating Bhutan 4-0

KATHMANDU: Nepal is off to a good start in the Women’s SAFF Championship. Nepal defeated Bhutan 4-0 in the opening match of the SAFF Championship to get the tournament off to a winning start.

Sabitra Bhandari (Samba) and Anita Basnet each scored two goals in Nepal’s victory at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor. In the 12th minute of the game, Samba scored to give Nepal the lead.

Nepal scored three goals in the second half after trailing 1-0 in the first.

Samba scored her second goal of the game in the 68th minute, giving Nepal a 2-0 lead.

Then, in the 73rd and 85th minutes of the game, Anita scored to give Nepal a 4-0 victory.

Nepal’s chances of reaching the semi-finals have improved as a result of this victory. Nepal will now face Sri Lanka in its second match on August 27.

The match between India and Pakistan, both from Group A, will take place on Wednesday.

The SAFF Championship is being held in Nepal, and participants include India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Maldives, and Bhutan.

Each of the seven participating countries is split into two groups. Group ‘A’ includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, while Group ‘B’ includes Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Nepal.
