ISLAMABAD: Five soldiers and four terrorists were killed during a military operation in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said late Monday that a fire exchange took place between security forces and terrorists in Boyya area of North Waziristan, a district bordering Afghanistan.
Weapon and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, said the statement, adding that the killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens.
Sanitization of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists in the area, said the statement.
“Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers will not go unpunished,” it added.
