A fair is held at Kageshwori Mahadev located in Kageshwori Manhara Municipality-1, northeast of Kathmandu.

Thousands of devotees visit this pilgrimage site once a year on Bhadra Shukla Ashtami.

There is a religious belief that if a crow touches a person, it is unlucky, and that on this day, one should bathe in the pond of the Kageshwaoi temple to rid oneself of it.

Legend

When a cowherd saw a crow offering cow’s milk to the guarded Shivlinga in ancient times, an idol of Mahadev was discovered there, and the temple’s name was changed to Kageshwori Mahadev Temple.

According to popular belief, devotees who fill the fair at Rasuwa’s Gosainkunda with holy water and offer it to Kageshwori Mahadev will have their wishes granted.

The Shivlinga of Kageshwori Mahadev was also born as a result of Sati Devi’s body falling at this location during the Satya Yuga, according to various scriptures.
