KATHMANDU: Sunil Thapa of Nepali Congress Dhankuta will be nominated for the House of Representatives election.
The Nepali Congress District Working Committee Dhankuta has unanimously decided to recommend Sunil Bahadur Thapa, a former minister and member of the Nepali Congress Central Editing Committee, as a single candidate for House of Representatives.
In the House of Representatives elections of 2074, Rajendra Rai of the CPN-UML defeated Thapa, who was then a member of the RPP Democratic Party in Dhankuta.
Rai received 37,333 votes at the time, while Thapa received 26,874 votes. In the 2070 election, Thapa defeated Dhankuta. Thapa is the son of former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa and currently serves in Congress.
