Dashain new note distribution to begin from mid-September
The central bank has announced that it will issue new notes worth 10 billion rupees this year.
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank is preparing to distribute new Dashain notes to banks and financial institutions from the last week of Bhadra (mid-Sept).
The central bank has announced that it will issue new notes worth 10 billion rupees this year.
According to Rewati Nepal, Head of the Central Bank’s Currency Management Department, the official decision on which day of the previous week to begin distributing new notes to banks and financial institutions has yet to be made.
Banks that receive new notes can distribute them to the general public at their leisure. Rastra Bank has also been issuing new notes to the general public.
However, it has not yet been determined when the distribution will begin. In the event of a shortage, the bank has stated that it will issue more new notes. According to the bank, the new notes will be distributed by combining the old and new notes.
The bank has also prepared not to limit the distribution of new notes this year.
