KATHMANDU: The impeachment motion against suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, who is facing impeachment charges, has been declared inactive.
He said this in a statement to the impeachment recommendation committee on Wednesday.
He claimed that the impeachment proposal was rendered ineffective as Parliament did not follow the constitution and its own rules.
He claimed that he was present to make a statement before the committee solely for the sake of the parliament’s respect as a citizen. He also stated that there was no need to respond to such allegations because they were “baseless” and “political.”
He also claimed that there was an attempt to undermine the judiciary by weakening the Chief Justice.
